Cleveland Design Competition

The annual Cleveland Design Competition is an open, anonymous, insgle-stage, ideas competition founded as a tool for generating ideas around under-utilized sites and showcasing the talent of emerging designers on Cleveland’s built and unbuilt environment.
Now in its third year, the 2009 Cleveland Design Competition hopes to build on the excitement generated from the previous two years where over 250 designers from around the world looked at two very different sites and program requirements.

As we all know, give a mic to a designer (especially an architect) and you’ll be trapped for hours. The key to PechaKucha Night is its patented system for avoiding this fate. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show.

This Friday, I believe at 830pm, I will be part of a panel discussion around the influence of design on business….hope I have something meaningful to contribute! The show will be on your local PBS station…should be interesting, unless the panelist are boring (as he points to himself). Guess we will find out!!
PechaKucha Night Cleveland - Volume 7
As we continue our exploration of new venues, please join us at Convivium 33 Gallery for PechaKucha Night Cleveland - Volume 7, as local creatives present their work, ideas, and obsessions in a series of short presentations on art, fashion, food, architecture, film, furniture, music, photography, and dance. Space will be tight so be sure to come early and enjoy a few beverages prior to being inspired, influenced, confused, provoked, and probably slightly intoxicated by the wonderfully variegated topic mix.
If you feel so inclined, there will be a happy hour immediately before PechaKucha begins, so feel free to come early and enjoy a few drinks!
If you are interesting in presenting at a future PechaKucha Night, have an idea for a venue, or have questions about PechaKucha Night, please contact us - we’d love to hear your ideas. If you know someone you’d like to see present, please do not hesitate to pass along a name as well.

On December 1st, 2009, Raseem Parker and I headed out to Chicago to present at PechaKucha Night Chicago Volume 12! Listen to me ramble on about what I love to do, and finally finishing with the overall message of why I do it. Celebrate the place you call home. Love your city.

CLEVELAND’S LARGEST GUERILLA URBAN ART PROJECT EVER.
At 7:30 pm on Saturday March 13th meet at RJ Bolands on prospect Ave to help Project Bleve transform gateway plaza into a 10,000 square foot mural of lebron James.
Don’t worry, it’s temporary. We will be using sidewalk chalk and charcoal to create a black and white image that will wash off in just a few days. The important thing to know is that the Cavaliers are playing the Boston Celtics on the afternoon of the 14th. A nationally televised game with aerial coverage to give millions of people around the country a taste of our Cleveland pride.

Pechakucha Volume 6 at the House Of Blues - tomorrow night, Feb. 12. Come one, come all, to hear what some amazing creatives have to say about thier work and passions. Doors open at 7, presentations at 820pm. No cost!

With PechaKucha Night Volume 6 only a few months away, we are working on putting together another rockstar list of creatives. If you have any suggestions or would like to present yourself, please email Raseem and I at pkncleveland@gmail.com.
If we have too many responses, as we typically do, we are also scheduling the presenter list for Volume 7!
